WPC Contest - Congrats Mark!

Good job Lori!
Here's what I would have submitted. (also under no pressure)

1) Nil eve? Relax if no pizazz. If set, ale elates fizz, a zip on. Fix ale, revel in.
2) Was never eve newer, cannily, mere Jeremy Lin, nacre we never even saw.
3) Work, sat as a he on a canoe has a task - R-O-W.

Yaks, gnus, and vegetables

A friend asked me to write a palindrome that used "yak" and "rutabaga," which then led to a "gnu" and "parsnip" request, with some silly results:
Sleep: a gab, a turgid yak? Oh, okay, dig rutabaga peels.
Devil pins rap on young gnu. Oy! No parsnip lived.
Evil gnu spins rap, baffles self. Fab parsnip sung live.

And then I wrote this one about an unfortunate online pic:
Hag's mug on net: torrid, a nadir, rotten, no gums, gah!

Especially the last one! Very original and lots of personality. I'll give it a title: "Facebook Photo"

100-word Palindrome (with explanations)

On My Gym . .

Tall “Abes” abate, spun adages. (an old saying is that big guys dominate B-ball)
Sold as “ten animal’s” battle. (a game is a 5 on 5 war )
Bet a passel on pals, all ace. (pick players you like to win)
Won, deep shots all in, eras gel. (you win when shots fall and players mesh)
Note, note, no tie. (always play till somebody wins)
Blast cider. (hydrate with an energy drink if you need a lift)
Press a play. (keep the pressure on)
Old loft, safe nab. (a lob pass is easy to catch)
Spots one lb. (easy to see those extra pounds on a court)
Bird dog one man. (play man to man defense)
Stats, put up stats. (play well and your line score will show it)
Name no “god dribble”. (don’t dribble too much)
No stops, bane fast fold. (don’t give up even if you’re way behind)
Loyal passer predicts. (some players always pass to the same guy)
Albeit, one TO. (which results in a turnover)
Net on, legs are nil, last oh speed. (keep going even when your legs say no)
No, we call a slap, no less a pate belt. (call fouls or the game gets too rough)
Tab slam in a net. (a signature dunk is the ultimate insult)
Sad loss, egad an upset. (it’s bad to lose to a weaker team)
. . a baseball at my gym? No! (switch to inside baseball, you gotta be kidding)

Palindrome about Al Gore critics

Al Gore's critics love to show video of the Nobel Laureate getting off some private jet. The plane's massive emissions per passenger belie an environmental crusader. His critic's rant probably goes like this:

"Railed if a Nobel. Ban a tarmac's aero-gladiator. All a revoke esteem, a meet seek, overall a rot.
Aid Al Gore, a scam rat, an able bona fide liar?"

100-word palindrome about original sin, a 'Fall' from grace

“Even on Eve . .
Sin is as a sin is.

Set Adam, God, even Eve (nude man!).
Now lived all at serene den.
One drag, an evil to note lurks (ire note).

Go get Satan, Eve, to help pass a dab a red.
Now on, fool Adam. Sin is, do get all, a ‘Fall’ ate.
God’s in, is mad, aloof.
No wonder, a bad ass apple hot, even a taste.

Named uneven, Eve dogma dates.

I think you need to replace "snort" with "snot" to make the palindrome work. Or say . . "if is not" instead
of . . "if I snort". I like your proton connection to Higgs Boson.

Ray: Damn, I missed that! Thanks for spotting it ... I normally check them pretty solidly too. Interesting that electrons and neutrons snort but protons do not. Here's an amended one:

"No!" sobs GG, "I hate God if I snort celery, trample hot snot, or prefer protons to help martyr electrons ... if I do, get a Higgs Boson."

Turtles and Kiev lovers

Thanks for the shout-out, twoply. I like the palindromes you've written here, and they are stylistically quite close to mine, I think: strong on grammar, for instance. I like 'Kiev lover', I wish I'd thought of that exit for 'r/evolve'. The truth/turtle one's good too. One of my fastest palindromes was from a turtle leading to 'crap': I thought of 'turtle crap', then 'truths in a', then the whole palindrome wrote itself:

Parcel truths in a Danish turtle crap.

Took me about twenty seconds, that one. Years later I tried another turtle:

“Evil yams parcel truth to be lurid,” I rule, “both turtle craps may live”.

Still with the crap. Then finally I escaped the rut:

A tinsel sign (simple hotel truth) subsumed a mad emu’s bush turtle to help missing isles, Nita.

On the subject of turtles and tinsel

Thanks, Martin..
I really like your "amputee fleets"!

I have another turtle on my desk (I think they multiply :). I had consigned it to the "barking mad" category, but since your turtle also has tinsel I felt I had to let it see the light of day!

Conversation overheard at a restaurant (Too much egg nog):
"I demand raw denial, Pam," alerts a waitress! "All I wish: turtles' nits at nasal leftists! Apers!!!"

"Dr., offal affords repast!"

"Sit, fella, Santa's tinsel truths I will assert. I, a wastrel, am a plain Edward-named I."

Hello all
I'm new to palindrome creation, but have a couple of efforts to share:

and

Spam-bot, ay? Moot, too, my a-to-b maps!

This second one was in response to joining the Palindromist and being informed via e-mail of the problems regarding Spam-bots which became the spark for the palindrome. Hope you like them.

Mark, 'yob' means 'hoodlum',

Mark, 'yob' means 'hoodlum', 'hooligan' or 'lout'. Common here in Australia too, though British originally.
